Behind the scenes:
Film director/writer Tara Grover Smith wrote a poem and was inspired to write a melody for it. She reached out to Mim to collaborate and flesh out her song idea more. After asking Tara what musical styles and influences Tara heard in her head, Mim wrote a chorus, a bridge and created an arrangement based on those music styles and influences. The end result is this song, “Searching.”

Mim’s composer album is front-loaded featuring two original score soundtracks: Two Kisses (2020) and The Observer (2004). It ends strong with some playful and ambitious acoustic and digital compositions and themes in a variety of styles of music from jazz, R&B, quirky romcom indie, bumbling detective music, buddy cop themes, celtic mountain warrior vocal, drums and horns, and a vocal piece written in the style of Frank Sinatra performed entirely by Mim herself (vocal sound-a-like). A true compilation demonstrating some of Mim’s compositional abilities.
